How we met (she said)

I love hearing the stories of how lovers met...And I love hearing how their stories compare and contrast (he said, she said). And even better, isn't it fun to hear those stories unfold into family lore over many, many years?

So here's my version of how Rick and I met.

Way back in ought-six, I'd been using OlyBlog to learn about my community and find cool events to attend. But for most of that year I was an OlyBlog tourist - a guest with no login. Sure, I tracked the deeper reaches of comments on controversial threads and had favorite bloggers I liked to check in on, but I hadn't been compelled to create and account and post any threads. But after meeting up with some of the more active bloggers and their circle in October and November, I thought it about time to participate myself. I created an account and prepared my first thread. When I went to post it, na-da...Something wasn't working. Feeling like a dunce, I tried repeatedly to post my thread...To no avail.

Knowing that the OlyBloggers met up at the Broho on Monday nights, I trundled down there one Monday in mid-November. Being a fairly outgoing and uninhibited person, I walked through the bar and strode right up to the first geek with a laptop (okay, I acknowledge that hanging out in a public place with a computer no longer automatically assigns one to the class of "geek", but picture a long table at the back of the bar filled with men with little round glasses and several laptops. This was the geek table this night at the Broho). So, I strode up to the first geek with a laptop, tapped him on the shoulder and asked if he were with OlyBlog. He was Rick. He was a Cute Geek (later to be more specifically classified as a Sexy Geek). He helped me login, post some content, and then we talked for hours. At the end of the evening, we shook hands goodbye.

music for lovin

Rick brings music into our lives in so many ways, doesn't he? Here's how it sounds on Pear Street these last summer days:

The frail of his banjo sings from the front bedroom. When learning a new song he's go the dedication of our cattle dog fetching sheep from the far pasture. He takes several passes to collect them.

(then nips then goes by then away then fetches).

Then, with new found melodies in hand he serenades Pear Street to a sway.

For the wedding Rick's working with longtime friend and banjo guru Vince Brown (aka Red Brown) to produce an afternoon and evening of old' timey tunes and dancing. Rick will fill you in about the musical festivities as they unfold. In the mean time, see and hear Vince at: http://vincebrownmusic.com/home.html. Be sure to check out his photos.

Update: We've booked The Tallboys for the evening portion of our musical program. You can check them out here.
